The Hultafors Qvarfot Felling Axe is the premium felling axe in the Hultafors range and is well suited for small scale forestry. The long shaft adds force to the striking action and the axe is also useful for splitting, bucking and processing wood.
The axe is hand forged and made from Swedish quality steel in the forge at Hults Bruk. The forging tradition goes as far back as 1697, and the steel head is struck 40-60 times to increase density and durability to the head.
This axe is named after one of the families who served as blacksmiths at Hults Bruk for generations, the Qvarfot’s. Take care of your axe and it will stay a faithful companion for many years to come. Thanks to the quality and craftsmanship of this axe, we offer you a full lifetime warranty on the axe head.
The handle length of this model is 26" (65cm), and the weight of the head is 0.85Kg. Each axe comes with a sturdy leather sheath.
Shaving sharp "out of the box".

Husband is very pleased and using it daily!
Surpassed my expectations , delighted with the quality and finish . I will definitely be back to the site ( have my eye on a nice travel bag )
Bought specifically for a trip that hasn't happened yet but seems to be great quality. It's not razor sharp (In fact, I doubt you could cut yourself unless you hit yourself) but didn't take long to get a very nice edge. The handle's grain is aligned close to perfect but the wood is virtually untreated and wasn't as nicely finished as you'd expect, given the price tag. Again, a rub down and a couple of coats of linseed oil didn't take long but, overall, I don't feel I should have had to. Aside from the above, it feels great in the hand and, even without ever using it yet, I'm sure it'll be a pleasure to use. It's taken a razor sharp edge that I'm quietly confident will last well. Would be 5 stars if it wasn't for the little work I needed to do; in my opinion, hultafors should either take that bit more time (considering this is supposedly their premium line) or drop the price by at least a tenner. BUT then you look at gransfors' prices and it's not so bad....
After using the classic Hultafors forest axe for some months I felt the difference instantly when using the Qvarfot. It bites deep and hard, great weight and length, feels nice to hold, even. Only the second axe I've used but I think this one will satisfy many requirements for years to come. Interested in the Aby next, more out of curiosity, but doubt the wife will let me spend money on tools I already have!
