Casstrom No.10 Forest Knife - Green Linen Micarta

13103

SEE THE CASSTROM COLLECTION HERE

The Casström No.10 Swedish Forest Knife has been upgraded and now features an improved Sleipner steel blade (replaces the old Bohler k720/O2 bade), that takes advantage of excellent corrosion resistance properties.

The Casstrom No.10 Swedish Forest Knife is a ruggedly built full tang, fixed blade knife and is ideal for bushcraft, hunting and survival purposes. It will just as easily split logs as it will skin a deer.

The 4mm thick, satin finish blade is 10cm/4" long and features a Scandinavian grind edge profile. This is a powerful knife that will take heavy use whilst still being agile enough for finer work. The blade should be dried if used in wet conditions and oiled occasionally.

The profiled handle is 12cm long and indexes well in the hand. We offer this knife in classic oak, curly birch and natural linen micarta.

The thick (vegetable tanned) leather sheath features a wide belt loop and a drip hole to avoid moisture collection. Consider enhancing the way the knife hangs by adding a matching dangler.

About the steel

Uddeholm Sleipner carbon/tool steel has a high carbon content. The chemical composition allows it to be tempered to a high hardness with retained ductility (ability to deform without breakage) and toughness while being easy to grind and capable of obtaining a very sharp and durable edge. The chromium composition ensures a higher level of corrosion resistance compared to other carbon steel blades. It is still good practice to dry the blade after use and protect with oil or wax when stored in a high humidity environment.
