The Casstrom Woodsman knife has been upgraded and now features an improved Sleipner steel blade that takes advantage of excellent corrosion resistance properties.

Designed by custom knife maker Roger Harrington, The Woodsman is a robust, full-tang knife, with a blade measuring approximately 9cm long. It features a straight and fairly round handle made from 5,000+ year old Bog Oak and has a lanyard hole (and leather lanyard). It is supplied with a high quality, drop style leather sheath.

The blade is made of c.4mm thick Sleipner high carbon tool steel, making the blade extremely durable with heavy use such as log-splitting (batoning). The blade has a Scandinavian grind which makes it ideal for all tasks around camp, specifically working with wood.

About the steel

Uddeholm Sleipner carbon/tool steel has a high carbon content. The chemical composition allows it to be tempered to a high hardness with retained ductility (ability to deform without breakage) and toughness while being easy to grind and capable of obtaining a very sharp and durable edge. The chromium composition ensures a higher level of corrosion resistance compared to other carbon steel blades. It is still good practice to dry the blade after use and protect with oil or wax when stored in a high humidity environment.
