Filson Down Cruiser Vest

The Filson Down Cruiser Vest combines two proven forms of cold-weather protection: rugged waxed cotton on the outside and lightweight 650-fill goose down insulation within.

Built around Filson's legendary Cruiser heritage, the vest uses oil-finish Cover Cloth across the shell with heavier 11oz Shelter Cloth reinforcing high-wear areas. Both fabrics are produced by British Millerain – the English manufacturer whose waxed cottons have been trusted outdoors for generations.

Warm without unnecessary bulk and leaving the arms completely unrestricted, the Down Cruiser Vest is a formidable cold-weather layer whether worn over a heavyweight shirt or beneath a winter jacket.

British Millerain Waxed Cotton

Filson uses two weights of its signature oil-finish cotton to give the Down Cruiser Vest the right balance of protection and durability.

The main shell is constructed from 8oz waxed Cover Cloth, providing excellent resistance to wind and wet weather without excessive weight. Heavier 11oz waxed Shelter Cloth is then used where additional durability is needed.

It's a combination firmly rooted in Filson's outdoor heritage – natural cotton fabric, traditional wax treatment and serious protection from the elements.

650-Fill Goose Down Insulation

Inside, 650-fill-power goose down provides exceptional warmth for its weight.

Down concentrates insulation around the core without the bulk or restriction of a full insulated jacket, making the vest particularly useful when you're active outdoors or need another layer as temperatures fall.

A ripstop nylon lining keeps layering easy, while merino wool trim around the collar adds warmth and comfort against the neck.

The Down Cruiser Vest carries the practical pocket arrangement you'd expect from the Cruiser name.

Two side-entry hand pockets are joined by two chest pockets – one secured by a snap flap and the other slotted for quick access. There's also an internal chest security pocket for valuables.

A full-length front zip is protected by a snap-fastened storm flap, adding another barrier against cold wind and changeable weather.

Wipe clean with a damp cloth or brush. As with traditional waxed cotton, avoid conventional washing that could remove the oil finish.
