This is an excellent knife and is almost perfect for camping and bushcraft. It is heavy and should be good for almost all the cutting you need. 2 things I think are missing though. This one applies to all knives, and it's the lack of a sharpening facility. They have to be bought separately as no knife remains sharp for ever. Secondly, the top of the knife is not perfectly square (at right angles) and together with the coating you can't use it to e.g. create sparks on a fire steel, efficiently strip bark etc. So I'd recommend that the knife evolves to be a) sold with an optional sharpener and b) the top is remodelled.
Hi Andrew, I'm pleased that you like the knife. Have you tried using the choil/notch at the base of the blade with your ferro rod? A number of other customers have reported that it works well for fire lighting. Thanks
This really is a quality item. Solidly constructed yet light and comfortable in multiple grips. Love the stone washed finish. The sheath is a revolutionary design for a leather item and beautifully hand crafted. Very pleased and very prompt delivery from Natural Man
I was in the market for a solid bushcraft knife and narrowed it down to the Lionsteel T5 and the Buck Compadre. Although I love Buck knives and own several, I decided to pay the extra and go for the more premium T5 - so pleased I did!! The fit and finish of this knife is amazing. Love the feel of the milled micarta handle, which just fits perfectly in my hand and the Niolox steel blade just feels like it will last forever. I've had a play in the garden, cutting some rope, batoning, feather-sticking etc and the edge still cuts cleanly through a Rizla paper; probably the sharpest out-of-the-box knife I've ever bought. The leather sheath is also top quality and I love the option to use the molle on my backpack - never seen this on a leather sheath before and something other manufacturers should take note of. Agree with everything Lee W said in his review, probably his fault that I decided to spend the extra 40 quid :-), but this knife is worth every penny - and again, fantastic service from Natural Man!
I've been looking for literally months for, what is considered by some, your most important bit of kit. Finally settled on this one, and couldn't be happier. Good weight and balance, really tactile handle and sharpens very well. My mate for life, and feels like I've had it for yeras.
I like it, cutting very well
