Red Wing Chelsea Rancher 8224 - Black Revival

The Red Wing 8224 Chelsea Rancher brings back one of the quieter classics from the Red Wing Heritage archive.

Originally developed for sheep ranchers in the American West, the Chelsea Rancher combined the durability of a traditional work boot with the convenience of a pull-on design. The new 8224 stays true to that heritage, with subtle refinements to comfort and appearance rather than a wholesale redesign.

Handmade in Red Wing, Minnesota, it's a substantial Chelsea boot with the materials and construction you'd expect from Red Wing – rugged enough for everyday wear, but cleaner and more understated than a traditional lace-up work boot.

Black Harness Leather

The 8224 is built from Red Wing's Black Harness leather, produced by the company's own S.B. Foot Tanning Company in Minnesota.

The clean, uninterrupted leather upper gives the Chelsea Rancher a more refined appearance than an Iron Ranger or Moc Toe, while retaining the unmistakable weight and character of Red Wing Heritage footwear.

Heavy elastic side panels provide the classic Chelsea construction, making the boot straightforward to pull on and off while keeping the foot secure.

Vibram 430 Mini-Lug Sole

Underneath, Red Wing has fitted the 8224 with the proven Vibram® 430 Mini-Lug outsole.

Unlike the Roccia sole found on previous versions of the Chelsea Rancher, the low-profile 430 provides dependable traction and durability without giving the boot an unnecessarily heavy appearance.

It's the same style of outsole used elsewhere in the Red Wing Heritage collection and gives the Rancher a strong balance between a traditional heeled boot and everyday practicality.

Built on Red Wing's No. 8 Last

The Chelsea Rancher is built on Red Wing's famous No. 8 last, also used for the Iron Ranger and Blacksmith.

It gives the 8224 a recognisably substantial Red Wing profile with plenty of room through the forefoot, rather than the narrow, pointed shape often associated with dressier Chelsea boots.

Made in the USA and resoleable, the 8224 Chelsea Rancher is a proper Red Wing boot with the added simplicity of a pull-on Chelsea.
