Some knives become favourites. A rare few become legends.
The Helle Harding Rubin 2026 Limited Edition marks forty years of one of Helle's most admired designs. First made in 1986 by Helle craftsman Erling Opstad, the Harding has earned its place as a genuine Scandinavian classic — trusted by bushcrafters, outdoorsmen and collectors across the UK and beyond.
Built to mark its Ruby Anniversary, this edition is limited to 1,000 knives worldwide, making it one of the most sought-after Helle releases in years.
Handmade in Norway, the Harding Rubin brings together fine craftsmanship, honest natural materials and real outdoor performance in a knife designed to be used, admired, and eventually handed down.
What sets the Harding Rubin apart is its link to the original.
For this anniversary edition, Helle went back into its own timber stores and selected spalted beech that's been quietly seasoning since 1986 — the very year the first Harding was made. Spalting is a natural process, and it leaves every piece of timber marked differently, so no two handles ever look quite the same.
That historic beech is paired with stabilised Kebony wood and striking dyed-red leather spacers, giving the handle a look that respects the original Harding while making the Ruby Anniversary edition unmistakably its own.
At the heart of the knife is Helle's renowned H3LS steel — a triple laminated stainless blade that's long been a favourite among Scandinavian knife makers and users alike.
The polished drop-point profile gives excellent control for carving, food prep at camp, or the everyday jobs that come with life outdoors. The triple lamination does the real work here: a hard cutting edge backed by softer, tougher steel either side, for a blade that holds an edge, resists corrosion, and takes what the outdoors throws at it.
Like every Helle knife, the Harding Rubin is built to be used — not left in a drawer.
The Harding Rubin manages something few knives do: it's as practical in the field as it is desirable on a shelf.
It comes with a black leather sheath finished with distinctive ruby-red contrast stitching, echoing the anniversary theme while keeping the blade properly protected through years of use.
Whether it's heading out on woodland trips across the UK or taking pride of place in a knife collection, the Harding Rubin stands for what Helle has stood for over nine decades: honest materials, timeless Scandinavian design, and craftsmanship that doesn't cut corners.
With only 1,000 pieces made worldwide, this is a limited edition knife in the true sense — once it's gone, it's gone.
A genuine collector's knife marking the 40th anniversary of one of Helle's most iconic designs.
