Mackinaw Wool Coat

52150-000070-455-305

This is that coat — the one you find yourself reaching for the minute you feel a chill in the air. This version in the archetypal Lumberjack Jacket plaid.

Mackinaw cloth is a heavy and dense water-repellent woollen cloth. It was first used to make these coats in November 1811, when they were commissioned for the British Army at Ft. St. Joseph, Ontario (near Mackinac). They were later made famous by American loggers in the upper midwest as workwear during the mid-19th century logging boom. Today, they remain a firm favourite by many people as an outer layer in cold weather environments.

The Stormy Kromer Mackinaw Wool Coat is made from 26 oz. 100% virgin wool, making it the heaviest and warmest Mackinaw Wool Coat available. It is extremely durable, water repellent and very warm. The six pockets are utterly convenient. And the five-button front offers flexibility for layering.
